Janie Henson Smith

Janie Edna Henson Smith, 90, of Greers Ferry, formerly of Pine Bluff, went to be with the Lord on July 28, 2012, at Arkansas Hospice in Little Rock. She was born on September 29, 1921 at Poplar Grove, to the late Leonard Henson and Lottie Smith Henson. A member of Claud Road Baptist Church, She was a devoted mother and grandmother whose life was centered around her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, George H. Smith, on December 15, 1981; a son, Thomas E. Smith; three brothers, Gene, Jerry, Pete Henson; and two sisters, Addie Webb and Lettie Morgan. She is survived by three sons, Roy (Lynn) Smith of Vicksburg, Miss., Donald (Jennie) Smith of Greers Ferry, and Kenneth (Sally) Smith of Sheridan; one daughter, Patricia (Melvin) Clinton of White Hall; a daughter-in-law, Debora Smith of Pine Bluff; one sister, Ruth Elder of Buellton, Calif.; one very special sister-in-law, Jewell Faye Henson of Greers Ferry; niece, Rose Ann Thomas; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 10 a.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel with Brother Mark Staples officiating. Burial will follow in Bellwood Cemetery.
