On June 8, 2012 Our Lord and Savior took his precious daughter, Betty Rene Hamby Bell, home to be with Him. Born in Prescott, Arkansas on September 5, 1926, Betty graduated from the University of Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wells and Myra Hamby, brother Wells Hamby Jr., and husband Wade W Bell. Betty is survived by her daughter, Susan Bell of Little Rock, Ark. and son, Alan Bell of Denver Colo., as well as her grandson, Austin Bell, her sister, Irma Hamby Evans of Cypress, Texas, four nieces, four nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Betty was a life-long member of and very active in the United Methodist Church and Church Women United. She was a lover of music, the theater, and movies; and participated in many Great Books discussion groups, sometimes reading three or four books at the same time. This is not a time of mourning, but a time to rejoice and give thanks. A celebration of Betty's life will be held at Grace United Methodist Church at 1245 Heights Blvd., Houston, Texas 77008 at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 16th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in memory of Betty, to Houston Public Library Foundation at 500 McKinney, Houston, Texas 77002; or Prescott\Nevada County Library at 121 W Main Street, Prescott, Ark. 71857; or Grace United Methodist Church at 1245 Heights Blvd., Houston, Texas 77008.
