Althea Jenada James

Althea Jenada James, 83, of Reeds Landing, Springfield, Mass.: formerly of Houston and Little Rock, Ark. died in the loving care of family and friends on Feb. 21. She was born Oct. 5, 1928 in Fort Sill, Okla., daughter of Col. Ray B. and Dorothy (Bauman) Floyd. She graduated high school in San Mateo, Calif. and received her BA from San Jose State Univ. She was a veteran and served as a First Lieutenant in the US Army Reserves, Women's Medical Specialist Corps. She was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Althea worked as an occupational therapist for many years before retiring. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ludlow, MA. Althea enjoyed movies (especially "westerns"), knitting, crocheting, needlepoint and quilting. She will be forever missed by her daughter, Dorothy "Dottee" Fisher, her partner Sandy Rose and granddaughter Jaime Corrine Fisher of Monson, MA; and a cousin, David Anderson and family- Paula, Katie and Chris of Walnut Grove, CA, and many who knew and loved her. She is also survived by granddaughters, Britta Jo Fisher and Brooke Suzanne (Fisher) Harris of Bigelow, AR. Althea was preceded in death by her son, Little Rock AR Police Detective Joseph Tucker Fisher. All services are private and Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
