R.J. Haney, 84, of El Dorado, died Friday, March 2, 2012 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. Born June 28, 1927 in Drew County, Arkansas he was the son of George William "Will" and Mabel McKinstry Haney. Mr. Haney was retired after 40 years with the Cooperative Extension Service of the University of Arkansas. He served as the Agricultural Extension Agent for several counties. He received the National Extension Distinguished Service Award in 1967 Mr. Haney had served as president of the Farm Bureau Board of Directors and had received a 60 year membership award and was a past president of the TAC House Board of Directors. He had also received a 50 year membership award for his service in the Lion's Club where he had served a term as president. Mr. Haney served in the U.S. Navy on Midway Island during World War II. He had received a 60 year membership award in the American Legion and also was a member of First United Methodist Church, serving in many areas of the church. Preceding him in death along with his parents were sisters, Beatrice Scogin, Thelma Calhoun and Irma Altman, brothers, Oscar Miles and Harold Haney and a grandson, Will Haney. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mary Haney of El Dorado, two sons, Ronald Harvey Haney (Gina) of New Braunfels, Texas and Robert Justin Haney, Jr. ( Tina Renee) of Rogers, Arkansas. Also surviving are one sister, Aileen Coston of Monticello, AR and one brother, Werner Haney of Little Rock. Surviving grandchildren are Ryan Haney (Johniece), Matt Haney (Priscilla) and Lauren Haney along with five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2012 in Young's Chapel with Rev. Mike Blanchard officiating. Entombment will follow in Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends at Young's Monday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the John R.
