Charlene Wedemeyer Wilson

Charlene Wedemeyer Wilson of Downsville, La., passed away in Houston, Texas, on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, after a lengthy illness. She was of the Episcopal faith. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Cohen Wedemeyer; her father, Arthur M.Wedemeyer and by her first husband, Claud L. Smithey. Charlene is survived by her husband, Jerry F. Wilson of Downsville, La.; her daughter, Kimberly Smithey Davis Gower and husband, Scott of Stuttgart, Ark.; her son, Christopher Nathan Davis and wife, Roanna of Denver, Colo. She also leaves behind three grandchildren as well her sister, Ellyn Wedemeyer Phillips and husband Charles of Houston, Texas, and a host of other relatives and friends. Charlene was born in Monroe on Sept. 7, 1946, and had been a lifelong resident of Ouachita and Union Parishes. She was a high school business instructor for 35 years, teaching at Richwood and West Monroe High Schools. Charlene was a friend to all and never met a stranger. She loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, friends, and neighbors. A gathering to celebrate Charlene's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at the home of long-time friend, Ina Daniel and her husband Glynn at 181 Lincoln Hills Drive, Monroe, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlene's memory can be made to the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter, 417 Well Road, West Monroe, La. 71292; the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, 7200 DeSiard Street, Monroe, La. 71203.
