Janet Pauline Marberry

Janet Pauline Marberry, 97, of Bryant, Ark., and formerly of LaFox, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012. She was born May 29, 1914 in Cazenovia, Wis., the daughter of William and Adeline Greenhalgh. Janet grew up in Cazenovia and Baraboo, Wis. and was valedictorian of the class of 1931 at Baraboo High School. At Wisconsin State University Whitewater, she was salutatorian of the class of 1935, and received a bachelor's degree. She also attended graduate school at Northwestern University and the University of Colorado. Janet taught school in Fond du Lac, Baraboo, and Watertown, Wisconsin before marrying William M. Marberry on April 23, 1944. Janet and William lived in Springfield, Rockford, and West Chicago before moving to Lafox in 1953, where they raised a family of five children. She worked with her husband to start a family cleaning business, which has now become Marberry Cleaners and Launderers. She also taught in the Elburn, Geneva, and West Chicago schools. Retiring in 1985, Janet and William moved to Eureka Springs, Ark. They returned to Lafox in 1995 and Janet moved to Bryant, Ark. in 2003. Janet is survived by three sons, John (Leigh) of Lafox, Peter (Chris) of St. Charles, and Steven (Barb) of Dekalb, and one daughter Janet (John) Dunaway of Alexander, Ark. 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren also survive her. Her sister, Mary Kirschner of Sauk City, Wis., and many nieces and nephews also survive. She also leaves behind many friends at Fox Ridge Estates in Bryant. Janet was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; her son William Jr., and her three brothers, Robert, John, and Arthur Greenhalgh. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m.. Wednesday, March 14 at Yurs Funeral Home 405 E. Main Street (corner of Rt. 64 and Rt. 25) St. Charles, Ill. 60174. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. at Yurs Funeral Home.
