John Robert Hawkins

John Robert Hawkins, age 60, of Morrilton, passed away Monday, March 12, 2012. He was born November 27, 1951 in Morrilton, Arkansas, a son of the late Sheriff Marlin Conover Hawkins and Kathryn Marvine Treadwell Hawkins. He was owner of Petit Jean Liquor in Morrilton, was a member of Morrilton First United Methodist Church, Fish Lake Club, President of Conway County Liquor Association, founding member of Conway County Legal Beverage Association where he helped to initiate millions of dollars in contributions for Conway County. He was also a Board member of Arkansas Beverage Retailers Association, a former Deputy Sherriff, and an avid outdoorsman. Survivors include two sons, Travas Givens, his wife Tina of Perryville, and John Adam Hawkins of Morrilton; daughter, Kathryn Anne Hawkins of Morrilton; brother, Bruce Hawkins, his wife Phyllis of Morrilton; sister, Kaye Anderson, her husband Neal of Lonoke; nephews, Jamie Anderson, his wife Elizabeth of Lonoke, and Clayton Hawkins of Morrilton; niece, Katie Seiver, her husband Scott of Rogers, Arkansas; grandchildren, David Aaron Givens, Tucker Carden, and Tyler Givens all of Perryville; and a host of friends and extended family. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 15, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Todd- Paul Taulbee officiating. Burial will be at Center Ridge Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. Pallbearers will be Phil Rhoades, Ralph Jones, Dow Dollar, Mark "Compound" Roland, Danny Neighbors, and Les Cupp. Honorary Pallbearers will be Fred Hill, Cody Hill, Gary Koch, Jimmy Hill, Gary Glenn, Jim Hawkins, Carroll Hawkins, Joe Carl Hawkins, Dr. Steve Long, members of the Fish Lake Club, Conway County Legal Beverage Association, and the Conway County Liquor Association. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 14, from 6-8 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home in Morrilton.
