Geraldine Storey Duke

GERALDINE STOREY DUKE, 95, passed away March 17, 2012 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. Born on July 21, 1916, in West Helena, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Carrie (Snyder) Storey. After marriage, she and her husband moved to Jonesboro where they raised their two sons, before moving to Sulpher Springs, Texas. After the death of her husband, she returned to Jonesboro, moved to Phoenix, Ariz., and then back to Jonesboro before moving to North Little Rock in 2003. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dewey D. Duke; a son, Donald James Duke; brothers, Leroy Storey and Herbert Storey Jr.; sisters, Mary Stiles, Helen Bicket, and Peggy Simpson. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard (Dick) and Joetta Duke of North Little Rock; daughter-in-law, Ava Duke of Jonesboro; grandsons, David (Karen) Duke and Rick Duke of Little Rock; granddaughters, Suzanne Franklin (Jimmy) of Jonesboro, Shannon Brundidge (Brett) of Centerton and Rachel Wonn (Jeremy) of St. Louis, Mo.; great-grandsons, Garrett Duke and Bourne Brundige; and great-granddaughters, Chandler and Madison Franklin, Annelise Duke, Berkley Brundige and Andersen Wonn; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Geraldine loved to make candy and did so every year at Christmas, gifting family and friends who looked forward to the treats each year. She took great delight in needlework, crocheting, reading and playing cards and games with family and friends. Her greatest joy was in watching her sons excel, and enjoying all of their accomplishments, as well as those of her grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home. The family and friends will gather after the service at 1617 Cooper Lane in Jonesboro. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Children's Department, First Baptist Church, 701 S.
