Leona Reid Smith

Leona Reid Smith, a retired R.N. and homemaker, resident of Baton Rouge and native of Bryan, Texas, she died of a stroke on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Ollie Steele Manor. She was 90. A private service will be held later. She is survived by a son, Dr. James Dumont Smith and wife Rebecca; two grandchildren, Chalin Smith Carlson and husband Jeff, of Alexandria, Va., and Hillary Smith Polito and husband Adam; three great-grandchildren, Macy Carlson, Maggie Carlson and Helen Rose Polito. Preceded in death by parents, Norma and Howard Reid; husband, Edgar D. Smith; brother, Howard Reid; sisters, Sally Perry, Beatrice Parker, Thelma Reid, Bernice Porter and Tommie Macon.
