Leona Reid Smith

Leona Reid Smith, a retired R.N. and homemaker, resident of Baton Rouge and native of Bryan, Texas, she died of a stroke on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Ollie Steele Manor. She was 90. A private service will be held later. She is survived by a son, Dr. James Dumont Smith and wife Rebecca; two grandchildren, Chalin Smith Carlson and husband Jeff, of Alexandria, Va., and Hillary Smith Polito and husband Adam; three great-grandchildren, Macy Carlson, Maggie Carlson and Helen Rose Polito. Preceded in death by parents, Norma and Howard Reid; husband, Edgar D. Smith; brother, Howard Reid; sisters, Sally Perry, Beatrice Parker, Thelma Reid, Bernice Porter and Tommie Macon. She was an avid golfer and loved fishing. Special thanks to Delores DeBenedetto and Judy Smith at Lake Sherwood Village and the staff of Ollie Steel Burden.
