CURTIS "GENE" LOFTIN, 65, of Jacksonville passed away Friday, May 11, 2012. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service and a Vietnam veteran. He was a member of Temple B'Nai Israel. He was born Sept. 5, 1946 in Columbus, Miss. to the late Curtis and Ora Lee Caples Loftin. He was a constant joker who loved to tease his grandchildren and most of all he loved just being Papaw. He is survived by his wife, of 31 years, Roxanne Loftin, of Jacksonville; son, Brian Loftin and wife, Lisa; three daughters, Dina Newlin, Kristie Burgess and husband John, and Amanda Williams and husband, Marc; grandchildren, Sam Olson, Atley Newlin, Brian Loftin II, Porter Gregory, Ryan Burgess, Joy Williams, Trevor Gregory, Ally Burgess and Liam Loftin. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Gerald Brackin, Charles Leroy Brackin and Gerald Loftin; two grandchildren, James Andrew Williams and Paul Williams. A graveside service will be held 12, noon Monday at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
