Ron Mayfield

Ron Mayfield, age 59, passed away October 29, 2012 at his home in Benton. Ron was born on December 16, 1952 in East St. Louis, Ill. Ron is survived by his wife of 13 years; Deborah Griffey Mayfield, four children; Rhonda Spangler and husband Mike, Derek Mayfield, Dustin Mayfield and Clay Griffey and wife Adrian, two sisters; Mary Snyder and husband Dennis and Trish Thiel, six grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and other family members all who loved him and will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver Eugene and Shirley Mayfield and one son. Ron was of the Lutheran faith. He worked at Alltel in networking. Ron served his country in the Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #60 and the American Legion. He attended college at the Danville Community College in Danville, Illinois as well as teaching there for several years. Ron enjoyed wood-working, computers, camping and his two loyal canine companions, Angel and Max. He loved politics and watching Fox News day and night. Ron's family would like to acknowledge a special thanks to Glenna Head who was Ron's caregiver as well as thanking Saline Memorial Hospice and staff for the care they provided.
