Alma Jean Simmons, 91, of Conway, Arkansas, passed away on November 1, 2012. She was born on June 6, 1921, in Damascus, Arkansas, to the late Arthur and Ivor Leslie Johnston. Alma was also preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, John Megee Simmons. She was known as Nana to many of her friends and family, and spent most of her life living on Middle Road in Conway. She was always busy and energetic whether it was working in her garden, catching crappie and bream, selling Avon, or attending athletic events of her son, and later her grandson. Alma is survived by her son John A. Simmons of Fairfield Bay; her grandson, Matt Simmons, and her daughter-in-law, June Simmons of Conway; her sister Allie Dean Yarbrough of Conway; her brother, Jim Johnston of Nixa, Missouri; and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Old Liberty Cemetery in Conway with a visitation one hour prior at Old Liberty Baptist Fellowship hall.
