Jerry Oliver Smart

Jerry Oliver Smart, 78, of Sherwood, passed away November 4, 2012 surrounded by his family. Jerry was born April 10, 1934 to Oscar Roosevelt Smart and Jewel Hepinstall Smart. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Franklin, Wilbur and Wayne Smart and two sisters; June Thompson and Sharon Lee. Mr. Smart is survived by his wife of 54 years, Liliane Azoulay Smart; two daughters, Pat Roetzel and her husband, Steve; Sandra Daniel and her husband ,Mark; his son, Steve Smart and his wife, Lisa. He is also survived by his brother, Rodney Smart and his sister, Sheila Childs; seven grandchildren, Jennifer and Ryan Roetzel, Amy and Caleb Daniel, Britni Grammer, Paige and Summer Smart and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Smart served in the Air Force for 23 years and retired as a master sergeant. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars. After that he served 23 years with the Veterans Administration and was also a Federal Marshal. He would tell you his most important accomplishment was being a loving husband and father. There was nothing more important to him than his family. He truly took great pride in taking care of them. Graveside services with Full Military Honors will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, November 7th at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 W. Maryland, North Little Rock with Rabbi David Lipper officiating.
