Mattie Brewer

Mattie Brewer, 80, a resident of Wabbaseka, died Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born February 7, 1932, she was a daughter of George Polk and Florence Cockrell Givens. Mrs. Brewer was reared and received her early education in Wabbaseka. Mattie Belle Givens married Harrison Brewer on July 29, 1950, in Wabbaseka. She was a Rural Postal Carrier for 35 years. Mrs. Brewer loved her family and her favorite past time was spending time with them. She was a hard worker in providing for her family and never sat still. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Altheimer. Mrs. Brewer was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, and one sister. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Milton (Johnita) Brewer of Stuttgart, and Gale (Carol) Brewer of England; one daughter and son-in-law, Vickie (Paul Ray) Bogy of Wabbaseka; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Bo Givens of Altheimer; an honorary son, Raymond Bryant; her special friend and caregiver, Cynthia Davis. The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2012, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend John Williams and Reverend Chris Foster officiating.
