MICHAEL W. PETERSON, 63, of Little Rock, Arkansas was called home on November 1, 2012. He was born February 28, 1949 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the eldest son of the late John Peterson and late Mildred Peterson. He was a member and Trustee of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brother Keith Peterson of Memphis, Tenn. Survivors include his only child, Branndii Nicole Peterson of Little Rock; sister, Barbara (Jimmy) Tyler of Little Rock, two brothers, Bruce Peterson of St. Louis, Mo. and Gary Peterson of Memphis, Tenn.; nephews, Dwight Hall of Dallas, Texas, Andrew Youngblood of St. Louis, Mo., Kylan Peterson and Kaleb Peterson both of Memphis, Tenn.; nieces, Maya Peterson of Louisville, Ky., Carla Tyler of North Little Rock and Monique (David) Fields of San Diego, Calif,; cherished loved ones, Milton(Ruth) Williams of Chicago, Ill. and a host of cousins. Michael graduate in 1968 from Horace Mann Senior High School and maintain a relationship with all of Mann's alumni and also an active member of the Phi Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. until the end. He recently retired from the Little Rock School District after 38 years. So not only did he work for Little Rock School District but he was also educated by the district. He lived a life of service to the students in the Little Rock District and the education community. He graduated from Henderson State University in 1972 and in 2011 he was inducted into the Henderson State University Athletic Hall of Fame. Also, He was recently elected to the LRSD Board and had many ideas on how to improve student education throughout the district. He loved education and cared about all children. All services will be held at St. Mark Baptist Church, 5722 West 12th Street, Little Rock 72204. The family hour is scheduled for Thursday, November 8, 2012, 6-8 p.m. and the celebration of his life is scheduled for Friday, November 9, 2012, 11 a.m. Services entrusted to Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 Chester Street, Little Rock, Ark.
