Frances Sluyter Yaniger, 91, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on November 5th, 2012. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 9th, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Fr. Richard Zawadzki of Our Lady of Good Counsel as Celebrant. Burial will be at 1:30 pm at Calvary Cemetery. A visitation will be held at 6:30 pm and a Rosary following at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 8th, at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 West 12th Street. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth. Frances was born in Little Rock on October 21st, 1921, the daughter of Curtis and Emma Sluyter. She had three brothers and five sisters. Frances graduated from Mount Saint Mary Academy in 1940. She was always proud of having been the captain of the MSM basketball team. Frances was married to Norman W. Yaniger on December 30th, 1941, and together they raised six children. They were married until his death in 1985. Frances and her sister Mary G. "Pete" Zakrewski owned The Lamp House for many years. She enjoyed bowling and was also involved in the Catholic Business Women's Organization and church activities. Frances is preceded in death by her husband, Norman W. Yaniger, her parents Curtis and Emma Sluyter, her brothers Curtis, Vick and Arthur Sluyter; her sisters Mildred Garrett, Emma Lou Fryer, and Mary G. "Pete" Zakrewski; and her son-in-law John Horton. Frances is survived by her sisters Mary Lou Lueken and Sister Mary Lucille Sluyter, RSM. She is also survived by her six children and their families: daughter and son-in-law, Carlotta and Gerald Jones, and granddaughter, Lisa Jones; her son Norman Yaniger Jr. and grandson, Kaleb Yaniger; her son and daughter-in-law, Guy and Haley Yaniger, granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Chevis and Cory Collins and great-grandchildren, Cooper and Cayla Collins; her daughter, Johanna Horton and granddaughters, Whitney and Sydney Horton; her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Mike Halter; her son and daughter-in-law, Derek and Eden Yaniger and grandchildren, Dean and Emma Yaniger; as well as many other family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Mount Saint Mary Academy or Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.
