Bennett Alton Van Patten

Bennett Alton Van Patten, 84, formerly of Fort Myers, Fla., passed from this life on Nov. 12, 2012. He was born Dec. 3, 1927 in Pangburn, Ark., to the late Bennett Austin and Edith Dora Brown Van Patten. Mr. Van Patten was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, a US Army veteran having served during the Korean War, and an avid reader. His sister, Louise Van Patten Gipson, precedes him in death. Survivors include one son, Bennett Van Patten Jr. and wife, Susan, of Little Rock, Ark.; three daughters, Gyla Wise and husband, Stan, of Fort Myers, Fla.; Tamara Heineman and husband, George, of Coppell, Texas; Brenda Flora and husband, Jerry, of Heber Springs, Ark.; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Van Patten Hopper, of Mountain Home, Ark.; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Pangburn Public Library, P.O. Box 333, Pangburn, Ark. 72121, Attn: Peggy Taylor.
