Ed Flaig

Ed Flaig was born in St. Samarita Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 29, 1920. He was the only son of Lucille Crow and Edward Guy Flaig Sr., both from Danville, Ky. He graduated from Withrow High School in Cincinnati and attended the University of Cincinnati. After college he enlisted in the Army Air Corp and was stationed at Patterson Field. He went to officer training school at Miami, Fla. and Stanford, Texas. He then helped start the college training detachment at then Ouachita Baptist College in 1943. It was there he met and married Neno Nowlin in March of 1944. Shortly after, he was stationed on Guam. He was issued out of Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel, and settled in Arkadelphia, Ark. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64-years, Neno Nowlin Flaig and a grandson, Jim Guy Russell. Survivors are three daughters, Gay Burch of Hot Springs, Gail Flaig of Arkadelphia, and Sunny Flaig of California; son-in-law, Dr. Lan Burch of Hot Springs and one grandson, Jarrod Russell of Boston, Mass. There will be a family graveside service 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27 at Rose Hill Cemetery with Dr. Lee McGlone officiating.
