Malcolm Guthrie Parr

Malcolm Guthrie Parr, 70, of El Dorado passed away Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born Jan. 4, 1942, to George and Rachel Guthrie Parr in Sayre, Pa. Malcolm retired from the military after serving eight years in the United States Air Force, three years in Alaska, 12 years in the United States Army attached to the National Guard. He spent 15 years teaching school, worked security for Biloxi, Miss. High School, and was a door greeter at the El Dorado Walmart. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Taylor Phillips Parr of El Dorado; two daughters, Dana Gardner of Biloxi, Miss., Debra Mitchell of Athens, Ala.; two step-daughters, Janet Lane (Ronnie) of Cabot, Ark., Lesha Singleton (David) of Benton, Ark.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Dan Loomis officiating. Cremation services were provided by Young's Funeral Directors.
