Darrell Lewis Walden

Darrell Lewis Walden, M/Sgt, U.S. Army Retd, died at his home in Benton, on November 27, 2012. He was born May 10, 1940 in Bauxite to the late Ed and Nedgie Croxton Walden. Darrell retired to Benton after his career in explosive ordnance disposal in the U.S. Army, during which he traveled the world with various government officials as part of their guard detachments. He served in this capacity during the Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter debate in San Francisco. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bruce Walden. Survivors, wife, Maizie Spickard Walden of Benton, daughters, Elaine Muzny and husband, Mike of Hot Springs, Kara Gaye Skarda of Benton and Laura Walden of Los Angeles, Calif., brother, John Dale Walden of Glendale, Ariz., sister, Betty Walker of Benton, grandson, Grant Muzny and wife, Candace of Hot Springs, and granddaughter, Lauren Roberts and husband, Ryan of Bryant as well as four great-grandchildren. Chapel services by Ashby Funeral Home will be 2 p.m. Saturday with burial at Mt. Olive Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday before service time.
