Alfred Ray Boals, 77, of West Memphis, Arkansas died Wednesday, November 28, 2012 peacefully at his home. Mr. Boals was very involved with the city of West Memphis, he helped organize the J.W. Rich Girls Club and was the President of the Board for 7 years, he was on the West Memphis City Council for 6 ½ years and was the Mayor for the City of West Memphis for 4 years. He was very involved in many of the young peoples lives in West Memphis. Mr. Boals coached many softball and basketball teams, he loved the City of West Memphis and worked very hard for the community and wanted what was best for the city and the people that lived here as well. Mr. Boals was a truck driver for 26 years for Campbell's 66 and was the owner operator of Boals Construction & Concrete. He was a Member of the West Memphis First Baptist Church for 52 years, where he was a greeter in the Pastors Class. He was also a former member of the Kiwanas Club. Mr. Boals is survived by his wife, Helen Bates Boals; his daughters and sons-in-law, Gale Allen (Ben) of West Memphis, Ark. and Pam House (Jeff) of Rogers, Ark.; his grandchildren, Laura Allen, Amy Howell, Mallory Roeder and Hunter House; two great-grandchildren, Lilah Jo Roeder and Liam Howell; and one brother, Harold Boals of Helena West Helena, Ark. Visitation will be at the West Memphis First Baptist Church on Friday, November 30, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. Services will be Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the church starting at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, Arkansas.
