Milburn Gerald McKenzie, of Guy, Ark., formerly of Searcy, passed away Saturday Oct. 27, 2012. He was born July 5, 1930 in Marked Tree, Ark. to Everett and Pearl Alexander McKenzie. Milburn worked as a route salesman for Compton Candy Company and Owatonna Tool Company of Searcy, retiring from both. He served in the Army National Guard and United States Army during the Korean War. Milburn is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marie Howerton, and son-in-law, Jon Scott McMahan. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joan Hays McKenzie, four daughters, Lisa Bradley (Jerry), of McKinney, Texas, Leah Green (Rick) of Guy, Laura Cooke (Doug) of Greenwood, Lana McMahan of Conway, nine grandchildren, Leigh Bradley Taylor (Dallas) of Germantown, Maryland, Jason Bradley (Julie) of McKinney, Texas, Todd Green (Erin) of Hot Springs, Tyler Green of Grand Junction, Colorado, Mac Cooke of Conway, Marcus Cooke (Tiffany) of Fayetteville, Sarah Cooke of Conway, Adam McMahan (Kristin) of Baton Rouge, La., Ashley McMahan, of Little Rock; two great-grandchildren Abigail and Aidan Bradley of McKinney, Texas. Milburn loved his wife and they enjoyed traveling in the United States and abroad during their retirement. He was a charter member of Grace United Methodist Church and remained an active member during the church's transition to St. Paul United Methodist Church. He loved outdoors, fishing, raising cattle and horses. He was an excellent cook and loved cooking for his family. Milburn loved his grandchildren, spending countless hours following their activities and teaching them about farming and life in addition to helping his children and grandchildren with construction projects. He was an avid Cardinals fan and followed them faithfully until his death. He was generous, patient and even-tempered. Milburn never met a stranger. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Powell Funeral Home following visitation at 1 p.m. with Brother Rob Ernest officiating. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jason Bradley, Todd Green, Mac Cooke, Marcus Cooke, Tyler Green and Adam McMahan. Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters, Leigh Bradley Taylor, Sarah Cooke and Ashley McMahan.
