Mrs. HORTENSE YVETTE MURRY, 78, of Little Rock, Ark., transitioned peacefully on April 9th, 2013 at UAMS. She was preceded in life by her husband, Jessie Murry, her father, Thornton Jones, Jr., her parents Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Lee Davis Sr.,god sisters Ophelia Arnold and Bernice Wesson, grandparents, several aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by four children: Eric, Phillip, Tami and Marcus(Ethel) Murry. Nine siblings: Alice McDaniel, Curtis Davis, Jr., Janice Winston, Edith Lambert, Adib Shaheed(Waheedah), Mattison Davis(Velma), Myrna Washington(Lee), Michelle Higgins(Greg) and Michael Davis, 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include special cousin Camille Tucker, god-sister Mrs. Willie Mae Milton, and special friend in Christ Mrs. Juanita Washington. She was known throughout the community for her melodious soprano voice and her music skills. She was a proud 1952 graduate of Dunbar High School. She attended AM&N, now UAPB. Later in life she finisher her college degree at Arkansas Baptist College, graduating with honors. During her active years she was employed by the Little Rock School District as a substitute teacher and para-professional aide. "To God be the Glory for her Life." Visitation will be be held on Monday, April 15, 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Celebration of Life Service will be on Tuesday, April 16, at 11 a.m., both to be held at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Daisy Bates and Ringo Streets, Little Rock Ark.
