Kay Ellen Barnes of Conway died April 19th, 2013. Born Kay Ellen Brockway on May 21st, 1939 in Joliet, Illinios, Kay graduated from Joliet Central High School and earned an RN degree from Presbyterian St. Luke's in Chicago. Kay has lived in Little Rock and Conway for the last thirty years. Kay was a loving, compassionate, and dedicated wife, mother, and friend. Kay's generous and loving spirit is reflected in her many capacities as a volunteer. She dedicated 25 years of volunteering at the UAMS gift shop. She also dedicated much time to the Conway Human Development Center along with serving for nine years on the Arkansas State Board of Developmental Disabilities Services. Two of these years were in the capacity of Chairperson. Her dedication to the care and well-being for people with disabilities has benefited not only her beloved daughter, Kathy Barnes, but countless other disabled residents of Arkansas. Kay is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Mildred Brockway; and her sister, Lois Berglund. Kay is survived by her husband of 52-years, Robert Barnes; her brother, Ralph Brockway; her three children Kathy Barnes, Judy Sauer and her husband Drew, and David Barnes and his wife Pam; and four grandchildren, Clayton Barnes, Dryden Barnes, Ellen Sauer, and Ryan Sauer. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, Ark. with visitation to be held from 4-5:30 p.m. prior to the service. 801 8th Avenue, Conway.
