Patricia Atkison Honea

Patricia Atkison Honea, 69, of Conway, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 17, 2013. She was born on May 16, 1943, in Augusta, Ark. to Geraldine (Jerry) Atkison (preceded in death) and Aubert Atkison (preceded in death), this amazing lady started life as a fighter. Premature, she wasn't expected to survive, so her parents only gave her a first and last name. She overcame, survived and thrived. This created the fighting, tough woman that we all knew. She lived her life in different places, Parkin, Ark., North Little Rock, Ark., Houston, Texas, Forest, Miss., and Conway, Ark. to name a few., but the most favorite place she lived was Bermuda. It was there that her daughter, Diana, was born in 1962. She loved to walk the winding narrow streets from her apartment down to the beach. She laughed as she remembered that avocado trees were everywhere, and how a little girl from Parkin didn't even know what an avocado was. She always said she was glad she didn't know how good they were or she would've picked the trees clean!! She was the Mom that her daughter's friends could come to for advice, support or just talk. She was the "cool" Mom. Her most favorite thing in life was to be a Mom, not just to her daughter but also to her nieces, nephews, friends, or even a stranger. She had the innate desire to take care of people. She would pay for people's groceries if she heard them discussing their inability to get what they needed. She loved the horse races and slot machines and her Razorbacks. She loved dogs and children. She loved her Precept Bible study. She loved watching Fox News and loved to debate current events. She loved her sweet little dog, named Gabe. Most of all, this precious little lady LOVED to shop!! Her sister in law, Judy says she is the only person she ever knew that would shop so much, she'd need a truck to hold all of her packages. She was fiercely protective of anyone she loved and when she loved someone, she loved them unconditionally. The family she loved includes husband, Herb Honea (dec); daughter, Diana Boone (Steve) of Conway, Ark.; granddaughter, Katie Pipkin (Brian) and daughter, Margot of Little Rock, Ark.; grandson, Clint Boone of Little Rock, Ark.; brother, Bert Atkison (Judy) of Forest, Miss.; brother, Art (Robyn) of Sarasota, Fla.; sister, Dea Maclin (Bobby - dec.) of Millington, Tenn.; sister, Billye Brader of North Little Rock, Ark.; nephew, Allan Atkison (Lynn) and their daughters Brooke, Kelly and Abby of Forest, Miss.; nephew, Jason Sylvester of North Little Rock, Ark.; nephew, Bert Maclin (Angie - dec) of Memphis, Tenn.; nephew, Michael Maclin (dec) and daughter April of Memphis, Tenn.; niece, Shelly Cartmel (Tom) of Kansas City, Mo., and their son Trent and daughter Quincy. There are many people in life that are unselfish and giving. There are many people that have hearts of gold. Pat was one of these people and more. Her sister-in-law, Judy, once said that she was too good for her own good. She would almost literally give someone the shirt off her back, she was often "palming" money to anyone she thought could use the extra. She was most happy when she was giving to someone else. Many of her joys came from watching people enjoy something she gave to them. Would we were all like this. All she wanted from life was to be loved and to love. She was and she did. With her gone, there will be a void in the hearts of those of us left behind. Hopefully, in honor of her, each of us left behind can show kindness, compassion and mercy to someone who needs it. Hopefully, in her honor, we can give of ourselves to someone in need. Carry out a acts of kindness and be safe in the fact that someone will do the same for you. Hopefully, those of us left behind will do things in life and with our lives that would have made her proud. Hopefully, we will see her again one day….. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m., on Monday, April 22, 2013, at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. The graveside service will follow at 12 p.m., at Crestlawn Memorial Park with Rev.
