Eva Lucile Beaumont Mayer of Little Rock died on April 13, 2013, at the age of 88. She was born February 4, 1925 in Little Rock, the daughter of Lucius Carnot and Francis Beaumont. She graduated from Little Rock Senior High School in 1941, and attended Hendrix College, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She obtained degrees in Radiologic Technology and Radiation Therapy. She worked at St. Vincent Infirmary, Radiology Associates, and retired from Central Arkansas Radiation Therapy Institute in 1987 after more than 26 years. Miss Lucy provided an always smiling face and skilled care to hundreds of Carti patients. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling, a round of golf with the women at Rebsamen and Hindman Park Courses, and a glass with the "kids" at The Faded Rose. She always worked the crossword puzzle in ink, and grew and shared the many flowers she loved. A stranger was simply the next friend she hadn't met and she looked forward to working the polls to get caught up with neighborhood news. Annual trips to the Gulf Coast with her beloved Yank enriched their retirement years. She endured the limitations of her final years with grace and good humor. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, L.C. Beaumont Jr.; and her husband of 60 years, E.J. Mayer (Yank). She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Marcia M. Smith and husband, Dr. Phillip Smith, of Hot Springs; her son, Vincent Joseph Mayer and wife, Ramona, of Sarasota, Fla.; seven grandchildren: Laurie Smith Prud'homme and husband, David, of Little Rock; Rev. David Smith and wife, Wendy, of Montoursville, Pa.; Katie Smith-Johnson and husband, Mike, of Hot Springs; Dr. Michael Smith and wife, Dr. Dora Mah Smith, of Little Rock; Lindsey Mayer of Conway; Natalie Johnson-Mayer and Fallon Mayer of Sarasota, FL; and five great-grandchildren: Sophie and Christian Smith, Caroline and James Johnson, and Isaac Prud'homme.
