Iva Marie Wharton, 89, of Vilonia went to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013. She was born on Wednesday, March 19, 1924 in Lost Corner, Ark. to the late Fate and Elsie Clara (May) Pruitt. Married at the age of 15, she was a faithful wife and mother for 74 years. She was a seamstress and worked at different factories. She was very active in Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a longtime member of 50 plus years. Hard worker describes her well. She worked alongside her husband since 1968 in the chicken houses. She was little but mighty. Her husband remembers her as the one that kept him on the right path. She loved her family and providing for them. She is survived by her husband, Herman Wharton; daughters, Joyce Goff and Shirley Rutherford (Sam); seven grandchildren, Karen Miller (Ron), Greg Blakenship (Heather), Pam St. Clair (Dan), Robert Goff (Sally), Lisa Weaver, Amy Rutherford, and Katie Rutherford; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Reverend Wesley Pruitt; the other kids, Tommy and Joyce Baker; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Alice (Wharton) Baker; brothers, Cecil Pruitt, Everett Pruitt, and Floyd Pruitt; and sister, Ina (Pruitt) Chance. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, Vilonia with Brother Verlon Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Cypress Valley Cemetery with Bob Peters, Jerry Cartwright, Gordon Higgins, Bobby Williams, Nelson Landers, and Roger Robinson serving as pallbearers. Jack Lawrence, Clarence Stocks, and Bill Mitts will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m., on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway. Special thanks to Morgan and Mary from Hospice Care for their wonderful care over the last year.
