Dr. Joe Powell Spaulding, 95, of Romance, Arkansas, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013. He was born June 12, 1917 in Pocahontas, Arkansas, the son of Ira Lee and Mollie Spaulding. He is survived by a daughter, Fran (Gary) Goss of Romance; a son, Joe (Carol) Spaulding Jr. of Austin, Texas; six grandchildren, Michael (Kim) Spaulding, Coburn (Natasha) Goss, Dawn (Rich) Clevenger, Whitney (Marc) Festervand, Taryn (Jimmy) Lewis, and Tony (Kim) Roncketto; 11 great-grandchildren, Jadyn, Cole, Shelby, Cailey, Chloe, Ally, Nate, Jamison, Eva, Luci and Tatum; and a brother, Jack Spaulding. He is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Kent Spaulding. Dr. Spaulding preached for 77 years in many places throughout the United States, and he was a professor at Oklahoma Christian College, Harding College, Abiline Christian University, and York College. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home of Searcy. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
