Dorothy "Monda" Ballard, 88, received a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet our Maker on January 13, 2013. On June 15, 1924, Charles Pruitt and Samella Bell welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Dorothy Evelyn to their lives and to the city of Little Rock, Arkansas. Dorothy spent the majority of her life in Little Rock, AR. At age 11, she accepted Christ as her personal savior and became an active member at Shiloh Baptist Church. On June 5, 1939, she married the love of her life, Erbert Winston Ballard Sr. This union created two loving, kind and wonderful children, Erbert Winston Ballard, Jr. and Dr. Doris Ballard-Ferguson.
Her knowledge of Little Rock History made Dorothy Ballard a historian among college students and her community. She was a breast cancer survivor and an advocate for breast health care. She valued knowledge – ‘know your history and your health, because what you don't know can harm you.'
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers and son.
