Carol Pauline Colaianni Allen, 70, of Hot Springs, Ark., passed away July 4, 2013, in her home, surrounded by her husband and three daughters. Carol was born Dec. 21, 1942 in Lorraine, Ohio. She attended Hall High School in Little Rock, Ark. and received her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, Ark. On June 8, 1963, she married H. Frank Allen of Crossett, Ark. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage raising a family together, hunting and fishing together, and traveling abroad and in their motor-home. Carol was an accomplished athlete and outdoors woman. She loved fishing, hunting, tennis, duplicate bridge and any game that was available. She was a bronze life master of duplicate bridge and won many trophies playing tennis in Atlanta, but her greatest trophies were her three daughters and her greatest accomplishment was being a Christian. She wanted to be remembered as "a capable woman." In addition to her husband Frank, she is survived by her mother, Eleanor Waidelis Colaianni of Little Rock; three daughters, Gina Terry (Chris) of Statesville, N.C., Eve Allen (Carol Lombardi) of Campbell, Calif., and Holly Dean (Andy) of Pearcy, Ark.; three grandsons, Chandler Terry, Cameron Terry and Colten Dean; a granddaughter, Stefanie Davis (Brett); a great-granddaughter, Anabelle Davis of Arkadelphia, Ark.; a brother, Don Colaianni (Dana) and sister-in-law, Teri Colaianni; sister, Janelle Fureigh all of Little Rock; as well as, nieces and nephews and her treasured tortoise-shell cats, Sissy and Juju. Carol is preceded in death by her father, Gilbert Paul Colaianni Sr. and her brother Gil Colaianni Jr. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Neeraj Bharany and staff, Nadine Baxter and Kristen Carter at the UAMS Myeloma Institute, and Sarah Spence and the staff of Odyssey Hospice. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home in Hot Springs with the Reverends Scott Gallimore and Larry Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piney Grove United Methodist Church, Hot Springs, Ark. or a favorite charity of choice. Guests may register at www.caruth-hale.com.
