Columbus F. Edwards, age 9l of Little Rock, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 16, 2013. He was born on December 25, 1921 in Springfield, Arkansas to the late Charles F. Edwards and Mary Edwards He is preceded in death by his wife of sixty-seven years, Henrietta Edwards, also three sisters and two brothers. He served in the United States Navy as a Seabee in the South Pacific during World War II. He learned the love of baking while in the service, going on to be a professional baker working as the chief baker at the VA Hospital for twelve years then later owning his own bakeries. He surrendered to the ministry in 1969. He pastored churches in both Arkansas and Louisiana. He always had a great love for mission work and was very involved in the Beams Ministry, a ministry that distributes Bibles around the world. Columbus is survived by his daughter, Lori Tynes, son-in-law Bruce, grandson Brian, three sisters, Florene Stacks, Evelyn Pope and Glenna Perry; two brothers, Calvin Edwards and Bennie Edwards; brother–in-law, Pete Perry and many nieces and nephews and many friends. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Good Shepherd Nursing Home and Arkansas Hospice for their excellent care. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at Huson Funeral Home Chapel in Little Rock. Burial will be immediately following at Forest Hills Cemetery in Alexander.
