Mary Sue Hogue

Mary Sue Hogue, 81, of Wylie, Texas, and formerly of Sherwood, Ark., died peacefully in her sleep on July 14, 2013, one day before her 82nd birthday, at Garnet Hill Rehabilitation and Skill Care Center in Wylie, Texas. Mary Sue had moved to Wylie in March of 2013 after suffering a massive stroke to be close to her family. While she dealt with the effects of the stroke, she made Garnet Hill her new home, making friends with the other residents and the staff. Born July 15, 1931 in Bono, Ark., Mary Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby L. Hogue of Sherwood, Ark.; her parents, Clyde and Bessie Roach of Bono, Ark.; her brother, William Roach of Paragould, Ark.; and her sister, Norma Lee Schlaak of Michigan City, Ind. Mary Sue was a faithful Christian, and a member of the Somers Avenue Church of Christ of North Little Rock, Ark., where she worshiped and served the Lord alongside many dear friends. She was a homemaker who successfully raised her two sons and lovingly cared for her husband, Bob, until his death in 1998. Survivors include her sons, William (Tuffy) Hogue and his wife, Gaylene of Perth, Western Australia, and Eric Hogue and his wife, Tammie of Wylie, Texas. Her grandchildren include a granddaughter, Casey Hogue of Perth, Western Australia; and her grandsons, Zachary Hogue of Wylie, Texas and Mason Hogue of Wylie, Texas. She is also survived by her sister-in-laws, Polly Reeves and her husband, Ed, of Jonesboro, Ark., Peggy Hogue of Bay, Ark., Brenda Roach of Paragould, Ark.; and her brother-in-law, Russell Schlaak and his wife, Ellen of Michigan City, Ind. Mary Sue also leaves behind nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends. Services will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Somers Avenue Church of Christ in North Little Rock, Ark., visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Herman Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Allen Funeral Home in Wylie, Texas. Oran Burt, minister of the Somers Avenue congregation, will officiate. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Garnet Hill Rehabilitation and Skill Care Center of Wylie, Texas for their support, friendship and tender care in the final days of the life of our mother.
