Robert H. "Bob" Cole Jr.

Robert H. "Bob" Cole Jr., 85 of Magnolia, AR died Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Magnolia. Bob was born September 14, 1927 in Malvern and grew up in Holly Grove. He was a graduate of Magnolia High School and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired as Business Affairs Administrator from Southern Arkansas University. Bob was an active member of the First United Methodist Church since 1943 and was a member of the Leland Clegg Sunday school class. He served on the Board of the Salvation Army, was a Rotarian for 49 years and was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow, was a member of the SAU Dinosaurs Club and the "muffin men." He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lillian (House) Cole. Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sybil Gillespie Cole of Magnolia; sons, Bob Cole (Vicki) of Hot Springs, David Cole (Cyndi) of Magnolia and Bill Cole (Holly) of Hot Springs; brother, Charles Cole (Sandra) of Oakton, Va.; grandchildren, Bob, Beth, Matthew, Heather, Scott, Emily, and Caroline; and great-grandchildren, Lily Cole and Bradley Knee. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 20th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 21st at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Kelso officiating.
