Michael E. Brawner, 61, of Wynne, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013 in Wynne. Mike was born on May 18, 1951 to Dorothy Aston Brawner and the late George W. Brawner. Mike was the superintendent of Village Creek State Park from 1984 until his retirement in 2012. He had 39 years of service and received numerous Arkansas State Park Awards of Excellence including Overall Park of Year. Upon retirement, Governor Beebe commended him for his professional philosophy, integrity, and commitment during his career. He was preceded in death by his father, George W. Brawner. Survivors are his daughters, Ashley Brawner Duncan and husband Pete of Wynne; Erin Brawner Oguin and husband Russ of Wynne; mother, Dorothy Brawner of Wynne; brothers, Larry Brawner and wife Mary Bob; Ronnie Joe Brawner and wife Mary all of Wynne; sister, Peggy Burnett and husband David of Hickory Ridge; grandchildren, Luke Chapman, Rylee and Parker Duncan, Grant and Reese Oguin, all of Wynne. Mike will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and especially his Arkansas State Parks family. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 8, 2013, 5:30 until 8 p.m. at Kernodle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, at 10 a.m. at Kernodle Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Cogbill Cemetery in Wynne. www.kernodlefh.com.
