Gene E. Ballenger was born April 6, 1928 in Jamestown, Kentucky to Daniel and Pearl Ballenger. Gene was preceded in death by several brothers and one sister, all from Kentucky. Gene is survived by his wife, Betty Ballenger; one brother, Ralph Ballenger and spouse of Louisville, Kentucky; two children: Loujean McDougal of Mabelvale, Arkansas; Danny Ballenger of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four grandchildren: Brandon, Samantha, Brooke and Andrew; nieces, nephews and cousins. Gene was in the Korean War in the U.S. Navy and worked in the ship's office. Gene was retired from teaching school three or four times. He enjoyed church and fellowship; gardening and yard work. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Little Rock Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 8700 N. Rodney Parham Road. Graveside service will be 4:00 p.m., Saturday, May 18 at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
