Ed Doman, 67 years old, went to be with his Lord Jesus on November 8, 2013. He was born in Longview, Texas in 1946. He was a veteran who served in the Vietnam War in the Army Medical Service Corp as a 1st Lieutenant. He earned a BA and a MBA from Arkansas State University. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carolyn Doman of Jonesboro; his son,Eddy Doman of Phoenix, Arizona; his sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Mack Mankey of Hoxie; brother, Roger Doman of Hoxie, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lindley and Kaneaster Hodges, Jr., of Newport; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nancy Jo and Russell Clinton III of West Memphis; and several nephews and nieces. Ed Dorman was the former superintendent of the Arkansas Human Development Center. He worked there 9 years and knew each resident personally before he resigned. For the next 30 years he worked at the East Arkansas Area Agency on Aging, being the director since 1985. He served on the Board of the Special Olympics. He served on the Long Term Care Facility Advisory Board for the State of Arkansas. He served on the Board of the Arkansas Volunteer Lawyers for the Elderly. He also served on the Board of the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging and was a state lobbyist for the aging population to improve programs for them. Although we have so many special people who have served our community well, Ed's service was often behind the scenes. He was a wonderful administrator directing people to share differences and still get along. Sometimes he even sacrificed for his employes at his own expense. He provided access for the community to have softball facilities for everyone to enjoy. He also helped bring programs to benefit the aging population, not only to Jonesboro but to the other eleven counties he directed. He worked very hard during legislative sessions to pass bills that would benefit the aging population. He was a member of the 1st Baptist Church and taught a Sunday school class for many years. He always had a genuine interest making those who were older or younger to know their needs were important. Ed was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, November 15, 2013 at Emerson Funeral Home with Bruce Tippit and Derek Collins officiating.
