J.D. Samuels

Mr. J D Samuels 70, of Hope, Ark. went to be with the Lord Nov. 14, 2013. J.D. was born to J.D. and Dorothy Samuels Dec. 21, 1942 in Hope, Ark. J.D. married the love of his life Helen Ramsey on March 2, 1963. They had two sons, Jim Samuels and Greg Samuels. In 1974, J.D. was paralyzed from an accident that left him wheelchair bound for 39 years. In Jan. 2013, J.D. was diagnosed with inoperable cancer. Through every trial J.D.'s faith in and love for his Lord Jesus Christ never wavered and he never lost his smile that could light up a room. Although his presence here on earth will be missed, his family and friends rejoice at the thought of him walking through heaven pain free. J.D. is preceded in death by his father. J.D. Samuels; his mother, Dorothy Samuels; brother, Billy Joe Samuels; and a special grandson, James Samuels. J.D. is survived by his wife and best friend of 50 years, Helen Samuels; two sons, Jim and wife Tina Samuels of Glenwood, Ark. and Greg and wife Jill Samuels of Hope, Ark.; one sister, Judy Jones and husband Jeff of Hope, Ark.; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a special friend of 39 years, James Wright of Emmet, Ark. Memorial services for J.D. will be held Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home Chapel.
