Joel E. Miller

Joel E Miller, age 81, of Alexander, Ark., died November 21, 2013 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Laurel Miller (nee Jenkins), son Paul Miller (both of Alexander) and his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Scottie Jones (of Little Rock) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Eunice Miller and his sister, Mary Ann Bell. Joel was born September 9, 1932 in Mena, Ark. He and Laurel were married September 9, 1956 at the Nazarene Church in Wickes, Ark. He spent many years as an educator and volunteered as a driver for the Red Cross from 2001-2008. He was an active member of Calvary Nazarene Church in Little Rock, Ark. He had a passion for studying and teaching the Bible and served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. He was also a devotional writer for Herald & Banner Press during his retirement years. He also served for many years in music ministry and education and was known for his tenor singing voice. A visitation will be held at Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 W. Markham St. from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2013, followed by a graveside service at Duckett Cemetery in Wickes, Ark. on Monday, November 25 at 1 p.m. Arrangements by Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfueneralhome.com.
