Willie Brown

Willie James "Sonny" Brown, a son, brother, uncle, friend, preacher and singer was born December 8, 1944 in Pulaski County, Arkansas. Sonny was educated in the North Little Rock School District and graduated from Scipio A. Jones High School in 1963. He also attended Philander Smith College. Sonny professed his faith in Christ at an earlier age. He was a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church when he accepted the call in the prophetic ministry. He preached his first sermon under the pastorage of Rev. C. E. Canady on the fourth Sunday in March of 1964. On Saturday, November 23, 2013, Rev. Willie James Sonny Brown transitioned to his eternal resting place. He leaves to cherish his memory, three brothers, Wayne Gray, Kenneth Gray and Beauje Moore of North Little Rock, Arkansas; three sisters, Esther Watson (Sherman), North Little Rock, Cynthia Edwards (Ben), Morrilton, Arkansas; Deborah Janecki (Chet), Seminole, Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a special friend and Brother in Christ, Rev. Bruce Smith, Brookhaven, Mississippi, who transported and cared for him. Services will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013, 11 a.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church, 1324 East Second, North Little Rock, Ark. Rev. Robert Jenkins, Pastor.
