Imon Lee Ferguson,Jr., of Dallas, Texas was born July 23, 1961, in Stuttgart, Arkansas, the second child of Marie Paxton Ferguson and the late Imon Lee Ferguson, Sr. He passed on to Eternal Life on Sunday September 22, 2013, surrounded by his loving family and friends at Baylor University Medical Center Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Imon was a 1979 graduate of Stuttgart High School where he excelled in sports. He was a very gifted athlete and was named to the Arkansas All-State Class AAA Football Team. He was heavily recruited by many colleges and universities throughout the state, and because of his athletic abilities he was awarded a full scholarship to the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) in Conway, Arkansas. His love of sports persisted after college in his pursuit of his athletic desires. In 1988, Imon was delighted to be invited to participate in the official Dallas Cowboys try-out camp. An avid sports fan, he was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys supporter. In 1984, Imon received the Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. His professional career spanned many years and Imon never gave up his determination to return to the workforce. On March 25, 1993, Imon married Cynthia Barrientos. Imon's personal life was supplemented by his phenomenal spiritual journey. He professed his love of Christ and accepted the Lord at a young age at the First Baptist Church in Stuttgart, Arkansas. He lived according to this creed throughout his life. After moving to Dallas, he remained involved in multiple church ministries. Imon drove the church van and transported many people from the homeless shelters, served in the food pantry, and also was a Sunday school teacher. After he joined the Pathway of Life Church, Imon enjoyed his duties immensely as an usher. His family looked forward to him conducting their weekly Bible study and quizzes at home. IImon's wit and sense of humor will be missed, but not forgotten. His smile and personality was contagious and all were blessed to have known him. He touched many lives and he never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed. He was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife Cynthia Ferguson of Dallas, Texas; two sons, Imon Lee Ferguson III of San Antonio, Texas, and Nathan Barrientos of Dallas, Texas; mother, Marie Paxton Ferguson of Stuttgart, Arkansas; one sister, Alicia Ferguson-Smith of Little Rock, Arkansas; and a host of relatives including nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, and numerous friends.
