Wayne Harden

Wayne Harden, age 82, of Sherwood, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born December 31, 1931 to the late George M. and Mary Ida Harden. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Jo Harden; and son, Gary Wayne Harden. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Bradford (Dan) Sherwood, Ark.; and one grandson. Wayne graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1951. Upon graduation he served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. After serving in the military he began a career in the printing business that later led to a sales position with Western Paper Company where he retired in 1994. Wayne was an avid stock car driver for 15 years winning many racing honors across the region. He won the Super Modified Championship in 1966. He was an avid supporter of the Razorback Foundation and all Razorback sports. He was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, traveling to over 35 states and Canada. To honor him, a celebration of Wayne's life will be held at Arkansas Funeral Care, 2620 W. Main Street, Jacksonville, Ark. on Friday, August 8 at noon, officiated by Rev. Kenny Meckfessel.
