B. J. St. John

B. J. St. John, 94, passed away August 20, 2014. He was born in Kingsland, July 4, 1920 to Alberta and Bewford St. John and grew up in Watson Chapel. His first job was as a plantation accountant in Pickens. He then moved to Stuttgart, where he was in business for several years before he became a banker at Farmer's & Merchant's Bank and then ended his working life as a tax accountant. He married Alma Wadsworth on April 22, 1939 and they lived most of their lives in Stuttgart. They moved from Stuttgart to Conway in Oct. of 2003. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Claude St. John and Al St. John, and one son-in-law, Jim Hoggard. He is survived by his loving wife, Alma, of 75 years; two daughters, Susan Hoggard of Conway and Kay (husband Sandy) Blackard of Decatur, Ala., seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a nephew in Texas and three very special friends, Harry Lindsey of Pine Bluff, Billy Simpson and Burk Buerkle, both of Stuttgart. He has donated his body to science so there will not be a funeral service.
