CAROL LOUISE KERR, 81, of North Little Rock, Ark. left this world for a better place Sunday evening, Dec. 7, 2014. With nearly all of her immediate family at her side, she gently surrendered to the ravages of Chemotherapy. That evening, a dear friend dreamt that he received a phone call from her assuring her family and friends that all was well and that she was in an exceptionally beautiful place. Carol was predeceased by her parents, Louise and H. Douglas Pearce and her sister, Claudia Pearce. She is survived by her brother, Doug Pearce; daughter, Sherry Bruno; son, Kevin (Sue) Kerr; grandchildren, Ian, Leila, and Gabriel and many other friends and relatives. She was the daughter of two cultures: an Italian mother, Louise, who mastered old family recipes and an English father, Douglas. When very young she traveled back to the United Kingdom to visit her English relatives with her father. Having quite the head for numbers, Carol assumed ownership of an income tax practice in the mid-70s and completed her 40th season as a tax consultant earlier this year. Carol liked doing tax work, especially because she was able to spend much of the "off season" traveling, often spending several months each year with her dear friends, William and Elizabeth McClanahan in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Carol had an adventuresome spirit and enjoyed exploring the colorful markets and ancient ruins of that country. She enjoyed interacting with the diverse population and was always ready for the next fiesta. Carol always had an open door, with her house often full of Sherry and Kevin's friends. She was "Mom" to all, especially Jim and Tap. Many times Kevin would come home and find one or more friends had already arrived, not to see him but to chat with Mom. They all knew that they could talk to her about anything and everything on an adult to adult basis, with Mom never criticizing, never instructing, just listening and sometimes making useful observations. Her house was always a safe haven for Sherry and Kevin's teenaged and young adult cohorts. Carol will be cremated with the ashes scattered in a special place. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Dec. 27 at Immaculate Conception Church, North Little Rock. There will also be a special wake for all of her "extra" sons and daughters after the holidays with scheduling to be announced.
