Sandra J. Woody, 76, of Quitman passed away Dec. 27, 2014. She was born Jan. 22, 1938 in Marked Tree, Ark. to the late William E. Smith and Opal Kent Smith. Sandra graduated from Southern Arkansas University Tech in 1977 after earning her degree in commercial art. She was a talented artist and she had a love for painting portraits. She retired from the Methodist Children home in Little Rock after many years of dedicated loving care as a foster parent. She was a mother to many and through the years enhanced the lives of numerous children and teenagers. Sandra was a longtime member of House of Prayer Church in Springhill, where she was actively involved. She taught the New Beginners Sunday School Class for 20 years. Sandra was also the past chapter president of Aglow Ministries in Conway. She dedicated her life to serving the Lord and helping others. She also loved writing poetry and leaves many meaningful poems for her family and friends to enjoy. Sandra is preceded in death by one grandson, Brandon S. Dixon. She is survived by one son, Lonnie Woody of Wooster; one daughter, DeLaena Dixon (Gary) of Quitman; one sister, Joan Tirey (Jim) of Batesville, Ark.; two grandchildren, Sebrina Smith (Jacob) of Quitman and Andrew Dixon (Leanne) of Quitman; six great-grandchildren, Hannah Hayes, Turner Dixon, Sara Dixon, Ciara Dixon, Dallas Dixon and Jody Smith as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 at House of Prayer Church in Springhill, with Pastor Denny Distin officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2014 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Serving as pallbearers will be Andrew Dixon, Jacob Smith, Shawn Johnson, Birdy Smith, Brian Frost and Dan Barden. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Dilbeck, Michael Finton and Jay Pratt.
