John Loss, 90, passed away Feb. 7, 2014, in Fort Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Freda Lux Loss; and his parents, George and Joanna Loss; and two sisters, Margaret Cummings and Elizabeth Hanson. John was a WWII veteran, where he served as a tail gunner in the 15th Air Force, and flew missions over Germany. John was a native of Hartford, Ark. and attended Hartford High School. He graduated from the University of Arkansas, with an accounting degree, and worked in Tulsa, Okla. and Fort Smith, Ark. As an avid sportsman, John loved to hunt and fish. He was very proud of his hometown, Hartford, and wrote and published several articles in the Hartford Citizen. He also contributed to the Hartford Museum. John is survived by a sister, Mary Ann Robinson, of San Diego, Calif.; and a brother, George Loss and his wife Kay, of Little Rock, Ark.; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial mass will be held at 1pm, Monday Feb. 10 at Saint Boniface Catholic Church. Fentressmortuary.com.
