Elda Bell Barker) Campbell-Oneil

Elda Bell (Barker) Campbell-Oneil, 88, of Conway, Arkansas, formerly of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away February 17, 2014. She was born August 2, 1925 in Neodesha, Kansas, to Jennings and Sarah (Townsend) Barker. She was an identical twin to Mary (Barker) Shanahan who predeceased her in 1986. Elda was also preceded in death by her parents, a WWII Navy wife to her husband of 53 years, Delbert Ellis Campbell; and husband of 10 years, Wayne Oneil; siblings, Jack, Alice, Richard, Edward and Cecil; and by two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Campbell and Jimmy David Hartwick. She was a person of endeavor; as a teen she sang duets with her sister Mary, singing in clubs in the late 30's and early 40's. Elda was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ottawa since 1952 and a member the Oxford Service Forum. She worked at Ottawa University for several years prior to beginning her banking career, retiring in 1986. She was a volunteer for Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa for 25 years. She was past state president of the Business and Professional Women and a member of the Ottawa Country Club. Elda was an avid golfer and enjoyed most athletics. She is survived by three sons, Tom (Mary Ann) Campbell of Shawnee, Kansas, Duane Campbell of Conway, and Craig (Carrie) Campbell of Lakeland, Florida; brother, Joseph Barker of Norfolk, Virginia; ten grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
