Dr. Lawrence F. Garrison, beloved husband, father, and brother passed from this life on Friday, January 3, 2014. Dr. Garrison was a well-known educator, author, and professional speaker. Over his lifetime, Dr. Garrison fulfilled his passion for teaching as a long-time band director, high school principal, school superintendent and college professor. Most recently, he served as Associate Professor and Department Chair at LSU Shreveport. In addition, Dr. Garrison served for 25 years in the Army Band of the Arkansas National Guard. Preceding Dr. Garrison in death were his parents; L.F. and Ruth Garrison of Monticello, Ark. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Mary Lynn Williamson and two daughters, Heather Garrison and Tamsin Garrison Easley and husband Michael Easley. Surviving brothers and sisters include: Judy Garrison Mattox and husband Dr. Michael Mattox of Hot Springs, Ark.; Steven Garrison and wife Melonie Garrison of Searcy, Ark.; Kathryn Garrison Smith and husband Mark Smith of McRae, Ark.; Edward Garrison and wife Caroline Garrison of Greenbrier, Ark. Dr. Garrison leaves behind a host of loving nephews and nieces. Funeral Services will be held at Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville, La. on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at 2 p.m. with Dr. Michael Mattox officiating. Burial will follow in the Castor Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Labby Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, January 6, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The family suggests that memorials may be made to The Humane Society in your given area or The American Red Cross.
