Carole L. Bobel

Carole L. Bobel, age 71, of Heber Springs, Ark. entered into eternal life on Jan. 10, 2014 surrounded by close family members in her home. Her spirit is carried on by David J. Bobel, her husband of 52 years; and their three children, Kenneth Bobel (Ft. Smith, Ark.), Dr. Gregory Bobel (Conway, Ark.), and Laura Stark (Heber Springs, Ark.). She is preceded in death by her father and mother (Albert and Belle Lips) formerly of Heber Springs. She was born in Chicago, Ill. and was of Lutheran faith. She graduated from North Park High School in 1960 and married her childhood sweetheart, Dave Bobel, in 1961. She and her family relocated to Heber Springs in 1979 where she was a homemaker and substitute teacher for the Heber Springs School District. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling, dining, and spending time with her children and four grandchildren. In her early life, she became an accomplished piano player and performed multiple recitals as a child. Later, she attended North Park College and worked in Chicago's Merchandise Mart as a secretary. A proud native Chicagoan, she was also proud of the many accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She also had a soft spot for dogs and her two Labrador retrievers. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Her family has asked that in lieu of flowers or cards, any donations be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
