Jane Lee Buchanan Cherry, 90, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born March 28, 1924 in Morrilton to the late John Henry and Blanche White Buchanan. Mrs. Cherry attended Hendrix College where she met Edward Howell Cherry where they later married in 1941. They were married for 72 years until his recent death. She was active in the First Methodist Church, AJ Chapter PEO, Salvation Army and St. Bernard Hospital Auxiliary. She was a great cook, gardener, entertainer, golfer and plane pilot. She is survived by three children, Sharon Cissell (Mickey) of Hot Springs, Robert Edward Cherry of Jonesboro and Kathryn Jane Cherry of Memphis, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Lee Ann Dickens (Richard), Michael Cissell Jr. (Jamie), Lee Kathryn Hall (Russell), Jane Cherry Lackey, Gregory Meritt Lackey Jr., and Robert Cherry Jr.; and six great-grandchildren, Ann Winifred Dickens, Josh Cissell, Levi Cissell, Jack Henry Frisby, Ava Cherry, and Addison Cherry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Howell Cherry; and a grandson, John Matlock Cherry. A memorial Service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church in Jonesboro with Rev. John Miles officiating. A reception will follow in the Hon Lounge. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Fleming, George Puryear, Dr. Grover Poole, Dr. Ladd Scriber, Dr. Mike Tedder, Paul Hanshaw, Dr. Mike McDaniel, Dr. Ed Cooper and members of Chapter AJ PEO in Jonesboro. A special thanks to the Doctors and staff and caregivers of Craighead County Nursing Home and the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
