Dr. Hugh Wayne Biggs, age 89, of Morrilton, beloved husband of the late Phoebe Robertson Biggs, went to be with his Lord on June 6, 2014. He was born March 16, 1925 in St. Louis, Mo. He was the father of Charlotte Ganus McDowell and Paul Wayne Biggs; grandfather of Laura Catherine (Jacob) Perkins, Robert Matthew Ganus, Kelly Ann Rorick, Janet Marie Earls, Jimmy Dodson McDowell; and great-grandchildren, Catherine Emmeline Perkins, Jacob Thomas Perkins, Caroline Elizabeth Perkins, and Eva Marie Rorick, who were dearly loved by him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Mitchell Biggs and Mary Estelle Mustain Biggs; brother, Robert Olen Biggs; wife, Phoebe Robertson Biggs; and sister, Mary Evalyn Jones. Dr. Biggs proudly served in the Army Dental Corps in Munich, Germany, following World War II. He had a servant's heart and ministered as an elder at the Downtown Church of Christ, and actively participated in service work for the Arkansas School for the Blind as a member of the Lions Club of America. Music was his great gift and he shared music as a song leader for Downtown Church of Christ and many other congregations. He also taught Sunday school for two decades. Playing the banjo for community activities brought him special joy. Dr. Biggs served as a dentist and orthodontist for many years in Morrilton and sincerely provided excellent care for his patients. A gentle man, devoted to God, his family, and his community, Dr. Hugh Wayne Biggs will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at the Downtown Church of Christ with Bro. George Hulett officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
